Electricity Market Analyst

The role is new addition to the team and will report to the Forecasting and Supplier Levy Manager. The role will involve close collaboration with Capacity Market (CM) stakeholders, both internal and external to the LCCC/ESC. The purpose of the role is to provide robust and meaningful analysis to support insights into the Capacity Market, and to take responsibility for the Forecasting Team’s Capacity Cap model.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading on CM-related analysis for the LCCC
  • Developing and maintaining the Capacity Gap model
  • Maintaining an awareness of GB/NI/European markets
  • Preparing presentation material on relevant topics
  • Communicating to suppliers and other key stakeholders including BEIS and OFGEM
  • Provide general analytical and modelling support as required

  • Highly flexible when dealing with requests from stakeholders.
  • The ability to convey complex technical concepts to those with little or no modelling background in a meaningful, relevant and engaging matter

    o Able to seize initiative
  • A good first degree or higher degree in a highly numerate subject is essential
  • Experience with SQL and a strong familiarity with Excel is essential;
  • Experience in using Python or R is and Power BI or a similar system is desirable;
  • Understanding of the electricity market in general and Electricity Market Reform is ideal, but training can be provided to gain or enhance knowledge
  • Experience in creating powerful presentations in PowerPoint or a similar system is desirable
