The Low Carbon Contracts Company and the Electricity Settlements Company are both private limited companies owned by the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and established to play key roles in the delivery of Electricity Market Reform (EMR), the biggest change to the electricity market since privatisation
The Baseload Market Reference Price (BMRP) for Winter 2020, which covers October 2020 to March 2021, is £44.91/MWh. This is now available on the Settlement Data page of the EMRS website.
The Baseload Market Reference Price (BMRP) is calculated on a seasonal basis (condition 15 of the Contract for Difference Standard Terms and Conditions). Baseload prices are calculated using a traded volume weighted average based on forward season data received from the London Energy Brokers' Association (LEBA). The BMRP is published in April and October of each year.
