With over 20 years in the energy sector, Neil McDermott has a commercial background working in generation and trading roles most recently with EDF Energy. His broad business experience includes new asset development, joint ventures, operations and commercial management across coal, gas and renewables generation. He brings to the team a breadth of strategic and operational skills gained across a range of global business environments.
Chief Financial Officer
George has many years’ experience both in senior leadership roles in finance and within the energy sector, in particular in recent years in the B2B energy supply arena. Having graduated from Oxford, George went on to work at Shell, Centrica and Orsted before coming to Low Carbon Contracts Company in 2019. George is an adaptable finance professional with a track record of building teams, processes, systems and controls needed to enable growth. George is able to effectively communicate value-enhancing proposals to diverse audiences, and then work across businesses to drive delivery.
Director of Strategy & Development
Ruth Herbert brings to the company extensive experience of Electricity Market Reform and government. She has been a key figure in the establishment of Low Carbon Contracts and instrumental in managing CFD Implementation and coordinating industry engagement. Whilst at DECC Ruth headed the Electricity Market Reform Programme Management Office, and the International branch of the Office of Carbon Capture and Storage where she also served as Vice-Chair of the Zero Emissions Power plant (ZEP) Government Group. Additionally she has worked on Financial Services strategy at HM Treasury and served as an economic adviser for the City of London Corporation.
Director of People & Organisation Development
Cynthia is accountable for the HR, Procurement and Facilities Management functions of the business, ensuring both Companies achieve compliance in all areas. Cynthia brings a wealth of strategic, commercial and operational experience gained within both the public and private sectors, having worked with organisations such as DECC, the NHS and Cable & Wireless. Cynthia has played a key role in the establishment of both companies, overseeing and delivering the respective set up phases in both and is well placed to take forward the next exciting development of the business.
Director of Scheme Delivery
James Rushton has over 13 years' banking experience having joined Deutsche Morgan Grenfell in 1997 and then subsequently at Lehman Brothers (1999-2008) and Deutsche Bank (2008-2010). He has extensive experience in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and debt and equity financings across a wide range of sectors in both public and private transactions. Following this he provided corporate finance advice to the Ministry of Defence then joined DECC in 2012 to lead the Hinkley Point C project where he also gained significant experience on the development of Electricity Market Reform.
General Counsel and Company Secretary
Allison is a dual qualified lawyer and surveyor with over 20 years’ experience in the energy and construction sectors. She is a former Partner of an international law firm and currently a non-executive director of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. Allison brings to the role extensive in-house legal and private practice experience and has particular expertise in long term contracts with stable income streams and renewable energy projects including wind, hydro, biomass and CHP.
