Omer Ahmad, Senior Policy and Commercial Development Manager at LCCC, has become a Fellow of the Energy Institute (FEI).

He shares what the recognition means to him and how it connects to his work at LCCC and the wider energy transition.

What does becoming an FEI mean to you?

The FEI recognition from the Energy Institute reflects my significant and sustained contribution to the energy sector.

From a career development perspective, I am proud to receive the highest level of professional recognition for my knowledge, competence and expertise in energy.

It feels great to be recognised as a leader in the field and to reach this milestone in my career.

What achievements at LCCC are you most proud of?

One of our values at LCCC is Powered by Curiosity. Taking that approach to solving real-world energy policy challenges has served me well throughout my time here.

Through my work at LCCC, I have been able to continue developing professionally, gaining the experience and competencies needed to contribute to energy policy development nationally and internationally.

My work spans renewables, carbon capture, use and storage, nuclear, energy storage, flexibility, retail and market design.

How do you hope to use this Fellowship going forward?

The Fellowship gives me more opportunities to share knowledge and collaborate with a wider group of stakeholders, both nationally and internationally, who are working to achieve shared goals for the energy transition.

What makes the energy sector so exciting is that there is always a new challenge to solve, each one helping to further progress towards decarbonising the UK economy, enabling a diverse mix of generation technologies to be built across Great Britain, and strengthening long-term energy security.
