Discover ESC’s Secondary Trading Eligibility Directory, helping Capacity Providers find eligible partners for the 2024/25 and 2025/26 Delivery Years.
The Electricity Settlement Company (ESC) has launched a proof-of-concept directory of Capacity Market Units (CMUs) that may be eligible for Secondary Trading in the Capacity Market, helping providers find trading partners for the upcoming 2025/26 Delivery Year.
The Secondary Trading Eligibility Directory (STED) is now live. You can access the directory to find eligible CMUs for Secondary Trading.
The aims of the Directory.
- Reduce the administrative burden for Capacity Providers when finding a Secondary Trading partner
- Save time for the Delivery Body by filtering out ineligible applications
- Ensure eligible transferees are not overlooked as potential trading partners
Using the Directory.
The Directory works alongside the National Energy System Operator’s (NESO) existing Secondary Trading process.
There is no change to the existing process, and every Secondary Trade remains subject to independent approval by the Delivery Body.
The Directory currently includes eligible CMUs for both the 2024/25 and 2025/26 Delivery Years and will be updated as needed to align with future Secondary Trading windows.
This work forms part of ESC’s wider initiative to deliver operational efficiencies within the Capacity Market.
